Adam's Expertise

Adam K. Pittman is the founder and president of Computerbilities, Inc., a managed IT services firm, and Orbis Cybersecurity, a cybersecurity firm, both based in Cary, North Carolina. He founded Computerbilities in 1995, initially as a technology-training company, and expanded it into a full-service IT support and managed services organization. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Adam worked on conventional laser-guided and nuclear weapons systems for F-111 and B-52 aircraft before building a technology career spanning more than four decades.

Throughout his career, Adam has worked with local and federal government agencies and more than 2,000 businesses across over 100 industries, including organizations such as Boeing, General Dynamics, and the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences. Today, he focuses on helping small and midsize organizations—particularly construction contractors, engineering firms, architecture firms, and other project-driven businesses—reduce cyber risk, improve operational reliability, and use technology as a practical business advantage. He is known for translating complex IT and cybersecurity issues into clear, affordable, and actionable guidance.

Adam is the author of Computers Should Just Work, Hackers Need to Make a Living, Too, Scammers Need to Make a Living, Too, and E-Z Cybersecurity for Construction Contractors. He is also a frequent speaker and media contributor on cybersecurity, cybercrime, and business technology. Adam has appeared as a cybersecurity expert in the documentaries Cyber Crime, Cyber Crime: The Dark Web Uncovered, and Cybercrime: Fallout, and he is also credited as a producer of Cybercrime: Fallout.

His recognitions include a Department of Defense Patriot Award and being named one of Industry Era’s Top 10 Inspiring Leaders of 2023. Outside of work, Adam is an avid sailor.
