Business VoIP Phone Services in North Carolina
Your phone system should help people get answers and keep work moving. Computerbilities helps North Carolina businesses assess their phone needs, address call-quality and support problems, and plan a VoIP solution around the way their teams work.
For construction companies, that can mean connecting the office with field supervisors, suppliers and customers. Difficult transfers, unclear calls and confusing phone features can interrupt coordination when schedules are already tight.
VoIP carries calls over an internet connection. The right fit depends on your network, users, locations and support needs—not just a list of features. Based in Cary, we work with businesses across the Triangle and scope the work before recommending a solution.

Phone support built around your workday
A useful business phone system starts with the calls your team handles every day. We discuss who answers, how calls reach the right person, and what happens when employees are in the field or unavailable.
Connect the office and the field
A contractor may need the office to answer a supplier’s call while a supervisor is on a jobsite. A homebuilder may need a clear handoff between sales, administration and project staff. We assess needs such as call routing, transfers, shared numbers and voicemail, then confirm which features the proposed provider and plan support.
Desk phones, computer calling and mobile apps can serve different roles. Availability, licensing and configuration vary. The goal is a setup employees understand, with responsibilities for phone service and IT support clearly defined.
Address call quality and help people use the system
Unclear audio and dropped calls can have more than one cause. Reviewing the internet connection, local network, devices and phone-service configuration helps identify where to investigate. Buying a different phone alone may not resolve the problem.
Training matters too. Staff should know how to answer and transfer calls, retrieve voicemail and request assistance. We include the agreed setup, training and ongoing support responsibilities in the scope, so you know what is covered.
Cimarron Homes: clearer calls and better support
Cimarron Homes, a four-user business, came to Computerbilities with phone-system problems and dissatisfaction with its previous provider’s support. Computerbilities improved voice quality and provided better training and assistance.
Clearer conversations and help using the system support everyday coordination, helping employees stay focused on customers and their work.

What we scope before recommending VoIP
- Your current problems. We start with a free 15-minute IT Priorities Call to understand call quality, support, usability or growth concerns.
- Your people and locations. We review who needs a phone or app, office and field use, shared phones, existing numbers and how calls should flow.
- Your technical and provider requirements. The assessment considers network readiness, existing contracts, number-transfer eligibility, required features and dependencies such as internet access and power.
- The proposed work and ongoing responsibilities. A written scope should separate service subscriptions, equipment, implementation, training and ongoing support, including any network improvements or other project charges.
Changes to business phone service need coordination. Number transfers, testing and staff preparation should be planned with the selected provider rather than assuming every number or feature will move automatically.
Business VoIP questions
What determines the price?
Pricing depends on users and shared devices, locations, phone-service licenses, required features, equipment, network work, number transfers, training and ongoing support. We scope those items before quoting. Compare the total cost and responsibilities across proposals; a low advertised per-user rate may not cover the whole project.
Can we keep our current business phone numbers?
Often, but eligibility must be confirmed with the receiving provider. Accurate account records and coordination with the current provider matter. Confirm the transfer plan before cancelling existing service, and have the proposed provider identify any numbers or services that need special handling.
What happens if the internet or power goes out?
VoIP depends on connectivity and powered equipment. Backup internet, backup power and alternative call routing may reduce disruption, but suitability and availability depend on the setup. We discuss those needs during scoping. Confirm emergency-calling settings and registered locations with the selected phone provider as well.
Can staff use business calling from the field?
Many platforms offer mobile apps or other options for remote calling. The proposed plan, device compatibility, mobile coverage and security settings determine what is practical. We assess the workflow before promising a particular feature or experience.
Who supports the phones after setup?
The agreement should explain which issues Computerbilities handles, which belong to the phone-service provider, and how escalation works. Our regular customer support hours are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Eastern. After-hours coverage depends on your agreement.
Is phone service the same as managed IT support?
No. A phone subscription, a deployment project and ongoing IT support are different scopes. We can discuss how they fit together without assuming one includes the others. Explore IT support for 10–49 users, managed or co-managed IT for 50–250 users, or our construction IT support approach. Phone-system needs can also arise in smaller businesses, as Cimarron’s experience shows.
